The Blessings of Obedience

The Blessings of Obedience

The Spirit of God drew you here because He has a plan for your finances. His plan is not to take from you but to add unto your resources by connecting you with His covenant promise in giving. The abuse of this resource of giving and receiving in the church at large doesn’t negate or empty God’s promise over your life; His plan Has always been to make you a steward of His resources. In the beginning of time (Genesis), God made sure that the earth and its fullness were in order; water and land separated, night and day, seasons, then when it was all good and beautiful; He created man and put him in a garden full of provisions for His daily needs. It was only after the fall that sin brought toil, labor, and struggle.

I want to assume that if you are reading this, you have already taken care of the sin problem and have given your life to Jesus Christ. This is vitally important because the covenant promise in finances is for those who are part of the body of Christ by virtue of the new birth. It is also important to remember the blood takes care of the sin problem and heals your heart, giving you a new life in Him. As it is evidenced around the world, you can be a christian and still be poor. You can have a powerful prayer life and still be poor. the covenant blessing in finances doesn’t answer to prayer it answers to obedience to His word. Your acts of obedience to God’s Word releases the inheritance that He has for you and breaks the poverty spirit that sin brought to our lives. He says to us in John 14:21 that having His commands and keeping them invites intimacy from the Father and creates an open heaven over our lives, with the Father and the Son. It is not enough just to know and love Him in word and emotion, our ultimate test of affection for Him is what we do as a consequence of our belief.

Consider the wording of these Scriptures:

Proverbs 3:9 Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

Malachi 3:10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.

2 Corinthians 9 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

Philippians 4 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account. Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Unlike other things that we receive from God by asking, the above listed Scriptures reveal a common key for finances; your obedience to give as God directs you and commensurate to your ability is the key that unlocks God’s prosperity in your life. You may say, “you do not know how dire my financial situation is!” or how little I make in wages. I want you to note; concerning all the other commands, declaration, and decrees that God has given us in His Word, it’s only the issue of giving and receiving where He puts his worth on the line and says ‘test me in this and see if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing beyond your capacity to contain.”

Here are 5 valuables lessons about money

1) Agree with God’s Word and confess His abundance over your life as you participate in the divine exchange of giving and receiving. Right before Jesus performed the miracle that multiplied bread and fish, He asked Philip to feed the people. Phillip looked to the natural, and what was visible before him directed the course of his faith. If you look to your circumstances, you will confess lack and poverty will hang on you like a bandit. Instead look to Jesus who supplies all your needs according to His riches in Christ. (Mark 14:13-21, Mark 6:331-44, Luke 9:12:17, John 6:1-14)

2) Provision always follows a vision. Whether it’s for the kingdom or for your personal life, money doesn’t come without an assignment. We confess that God supplies all our needs (specific, measurable) according to His riches. 2 Peter 1:3 He has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness. Elsewhere in Ephesians 1:3, He has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in the heavens in Christ. The assignment and purpose in our lives is what draws this provision from the heavens into reality. In other words, God’s provision answers to assignment. In 2 Kings 4:7, Elisha meets a widow who was in debt and in a crisis of sorts. He gives her instructions to borrow vessels, and not few. She collects as many as she could find. As long as there was an empty vessel, the oil kept on flowing. I say to you put out some vessels (assignment) and you will see the provision of God.

3) Trust and believe that its God’s will for you to prosper in every way . 3 John 1 brethren I pray that you are prospering in every way and are in good health even as your heart prospers. If you think that you do not deserve the blessings of God, God will not give you what you cannot receive. He wants us to believe Him; that He is a good Father who gives good gifts to those who ask. In essence, HE IS A GOOD GIFT GIVER.

4) Do not look to man. Looking to man to answer your prayer or to provide for you blocks God’s blessings over your life. Whether you work or you are retired, look to God and prosperity will not pass you by. In Jeremiah 17:5-6 He says cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes, but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land which is not inhabited. Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes. But its leaf will be green and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will it cease from yielding fruit.

5) Whether moved by God or by compassion, giving is the key that opens the treasure house of heavens financial blessings over your life. All the provision miracles listed in the Bible save for the manna in the desert required a person to obey and give, for the miracle working power to be released. The widow with the jar of oil and Elijah (1 Kings 17:8-13), miracle of feeding the 5000 with 2 fish and five loaves, Elisha feeding 100 men with a few loaves (2 Kings 4:42-45), only to mention a few.

The Blessed State of the Righteous who give with liberality

Psalms 112

Praise the Lord!

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who delights greatly in His commandments.

His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.
Wealth and riches will be in his house,
And his righteousness [b]endures forever.
Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness;
He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
A good man deals graciously and lends;
He will guide his affairs with discretion.

Surely, he will never be shaken;
The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance.
He will not be afraid of evil tidings;
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
His heart is established;
He will not be afraid,
Until he sees his desire upon his enemies.

He has dispersed abroad,
He has given to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever;
His horn will be exalted with honor.
The wicked will see it and be grieved;
He will gnash his teeth and melt away;
The desire of the wicked shall perish.
