Prayer & fasting

Prayer & fasting

An unmet need; a catalyst for a hunger for more of God

Like it or not, we as Christians will find ourselves in the same place where the disciples were in Mathew 17:14-21. In this place, all that we believe in and have experienced before fails to produce the desired result, leading to an unmet need. In the disciples case, they had seen miracles happen before (Luke 10:17), they had driven out demons and healed the sick but on this occasion, they were unable to heal a young boy.  Christ’s response to their bewilderment that  “some of this do not come out except by prayer and fasting” has been viewed with contempt and in some cases omitting the “fasting” part from Matthew 17:21.

We believe that prayer and fasting should be a part of any Christian who desires to walk in power and authority.  It is important to understand that we do not fast to change God’s mind nor make Him give answers to our questions faster. His mind concerning you was made up before you were created. If you are a believer, God’s destiny for you is already made up; for you to be conformed into His image. This includes being sickness, poverty and struggle free; being full of the more abundant life that He died for you to have.

We fast to:

a) Humble ourselves before God that He may lift us up in the point of our weakness (Psalms 69: 10 -20, James 4:10)
b) Put our flesh under subjection so that the Holy Spirit can strengthen our spirit man; man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes     from the mouth of God. (Mathew 4:4, 1 Corinthians 9:27,Galatians 5:17)

c) Tell God we believe in His ability to sustain us more than we believe in the natural provisions.

d) Release the bonds of wickedness, to break the yoke of bondage, to cancel debts and free the oppressed. (Isaiah 58:6-7) according to Isaiah 58:8-14; the right kind of fast will produce healing for the body, breakthrough in prayer, financial breakthrough and an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

e) Empty ourselves of the natural sustenance and fill you with the supernatural providence of God, leading to a life of miracles, signs and wonders.
separate ourselves from the clutter of society and spend quality time with God; fasting is not simply an act of missing food. Some people go without food or water (Esther 4:16) others avoid delicacies (Daniel 1:11-19), and you can live on water only (Jesus in Mathew 4)

f) It is important to understand that fasting is a universal tool that is available to all mankind; believers and non believers alike. As we fast, we are filled with more of what we believe. Buddhist, Muslims, Hindus, New-agers and Satanic worshippers use this tool to ascend into higher realms of experience in their beliefs. If they experience the supernatural being outside of God’s truth, how much more will you who believe experience God the creator when you decrease and He increases?

Moses fasted and encountered God face to face (Exodus 34:28), Jesus fasted and was filled with the power of the Holy Ghost (Luke 4:14), the disciples fasted and walked in special miracles (Acts 3:13, Acts 19:11). We could make mention of Hanna in Samuel who obtained a son from God, Esther who saved a whole nation by prayer and fasting, Nehemiah, Ezra, Daniel and many others. Fasting is the secret to emptying yourself and inviting God to fill you with His supernatural power and grace.  In fasting you do not have the Holy Spirit, He has you; he is not under your control but you are under His, like wind that carries an eagle into the horizon.

Please consider joining us for this week of power and breakthrough as we humble ourselves together before God and resist the enemy; it is going to be life changing.
