Those who wait on the Lord… (Isaiah 40:28-31)
I felt compelled to write to you and remind you of the rudiments of our faith as we plough through the challenge at hand. Every day, the enemy is shooting arrows and fiery darts in hopes that some will pass the barrier of your shield of faith. The greatest of these arrows carry with it the spirit of fear, which may present itself as a genuine concern, a care for tomorrow or for your family. As we maneuver the minefields of spiritual warfare in this time, it is important we remember that where the Love of God is present, there is no room for negative emotion. His perfect love casts out all fear and we know even in this ordeal; beauty comes out of all things. As we cast our cares upon Him, wisdom to see issues around us in the right proportion is available; small things as small and big things as big.
Based on the recent developments as pertains to corona virus, it is of paramount importance that we do not forget that nothing happens to us that catches God by surprise. He declares the end from the beginning and is Omnipotent; all things are under His tutelage. In spite of the reports that this pandemic may cripple the economy and take the lives of many people, it is in our best interest to lean our hope on the Rock of Ages, the Chief Cornerstone; Jesus Christ.
The Lord has promised us that even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we are not to fear any evil for He is with us. In Psalms 91, He assures us that one thousand may fall at your right and ten thousand at your left, but nothing shall come near your dwelling place.
I write to you that live at the epicenter of this virus, I write to you who may already be infected, in Ephesians 6:10, Apostle Paul admonishes us that having done all to stand, stand. In other words, after having done all that the situation demands i.e., following the guidelines of the authorities, washing your hands keeping off vulnerable places etc., we are to then engage the ordeal in a spiritual manner. For our battle is not against things with mundane bodies but against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness and wickedness in high places.
This virus is only a tool that the enemy is using to disrupt, destroy and derail the order of the society. We know this to be true because the fruit of it has been fear, confusion, panic, and death; none of which is a good gift from above. Thankfully, whatever is born of God overcomes the world and I am certain that through this battle, His power will be revealed as we take up our positions in battle.
We are told in James 5:17 that Elijah was a man of like passion, yet he prayed and shut the heavens for three and half years, He prayed again, and the heavens gave rain. You that believe in Jesus and in the authority that He has given to the church are the point of contact for your household, neighborhood, your city and consequently your country.
I submit to you that after you have adhered to the directions of the authorities, it is time to enter your secret place and begin to pray for a divine intervention in this situation. The media will paint a picture of gloom and desperation, but we know that in all these things we are more than conquerors and as such fear has no place in our discourse.
If you have followed our ministry and other prophetic ministries in the last few months, you will remember that the Lord spoke to us beforehand that a virus was coming from Asia, it will cause a lot of panic but as fast as it came it will disappear. Therefore, be encouraged because we know that victory belongs to us. In a short while, this wave and tempest in the form of this virus will be still and life will continue as normal.
What are our next steps?
First: Hebrews 2:14-15 intimates that in every place where we are afraid, we subject ourselves to lifelong slavery. The first thing to do is to eliminate the source of fear and fill your soul with the confidence that we have in God’s Word. Remind yourself that He has good plans for your life, plans to prosper you and not to harm you (Jeremiah 29:11). It doesn’t help your faith if you have the news media running 24/7 in your house, faith comes by hearing and hearing by…, whatever you are allowing through your ear gate will determine whether fear or faith is produced in your life.
Secondly, if you or your family are already infected, remember the Word of God in Numbers 21:4-9, fiery serpents bit the people of Israel and many died. However, after God instructed Moses to set a serpent on a pole, whoever would look up to the serpent, even though they had been bitten would live. In the same manner Christ was lifted on the cross so that those whoever looks to Him may be saved; healed, delivered and blessed. The infection is not the end of your story, if you believe and cast your care onto Him, He will heal you and your loved ones (John 3:14).
Thirdly, Paul in Ephesians 6:18 tells us that we are to always pray in the spirit, with all manner of supplication and prayer, keeping alert and making supplication for all the saints. As such, use your platform of prayer and begin to exercise your authority in the name of Jesus.
